Sweet, rich and pleasantly chewy . .  Safawi dates are a real delight.  a first choice for many due to their fantastic flavour and larger size; safawi dates tend to represent excellent value because of there overall high quality. 

Safawi dates display a deep mauve colouring which expresses the intensity of their complex flavour; often compared to molasses and honey with hints of coffee and chocolate which can be detected.

The skin of a safawi date will usually be wrinkled, in varying amounts. Variations in trees can offer slight differences in this respect., however they most often have a well attached skin which does not easily separate; as is quite normal in some varieties. however once again; safawi dates can vary and may also display a slightly looser skin even though the flesh will look and taste much the same.

As you may have read in other descriptions we highly recommend these darker and sweeter varieties to be enjoyed accompanied by a glass of milk which balances the intense richness of these flavours..

The larger than average size makes safawi dates a more substantial snack than most other varieties.
