An interesting blue glaucous finish is commonly found on quality medjoul dates; a hydrophobic coating similar to the chalky looking coating you often find on plums and grapes.

though their typical 'sweet datey' flavour may not be as subtle or complex as many other varieties., the delicious taste of a quality medjoul is something not many disagree on. With a sweet honey and caramel flavour the discerning may also detect subtle vanilla notes in some varieties.
